Call of Duty Veteruns Honored For Social Impact and Mission-Driven Creativity

After reaching – and then surpassing – its goal of placing 100,000 veterans into high-quality jobs almost two full years earlier than promised, the Call of Duty Endowment needed a way to simultaneously celebrate, amp up their efforts on behalf of veterans, and cement its reputation as one of the most innovative organizations in the non-profit space.

Impossible? Of course not.

Call of Duty Veteruns took the concept of a charity run and brought it inside the actual Call of Duty game – making it accessible to everyone in the world, even if you’ve never owned a real world pair of running shoes. The event, which challenged players to run 100km inside Call of Duty: Warzone, was conducted in partnership with Twitter, while promoting participants through leaderboards, milestone recognition, and other unlockable rewards.

Now, it gets to celebrate some rewards of its own.

Call of Duty Veteruns took home top honors from PR News’ Social Impact Awards in the “Social Good/Responsibility Campaign”category while also taking Gold in the Anthem Awards (a presentation of the Webby Awards) for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Non-Profit Campaign.

“Veteruns wouldn't have been possible without the amazing employees across Activision lending their time,” says Call of Duty Endowment Executive Director Dan Goldenberg. “With a special acknowledgement going out to Raven Software and the Call of Duty team for their collaboration and execution.”

Going the extra mile for veterans while celebrating the global Call of Duty community – the Call of Duty Endowment changed the game once again, and its mission only continues to build momentum.
